Chris was inspired by the Hawaiian Monk seal of which is a very rare species with maybe 1400 counted in pacific waters. Barela started a non profit in 2015 called A Little Green, the mission is to raise ocean awareness though art, education & conservation. It is funded by Barela Art sales and grants from the community members & supported by Hawaii Tourism Authority, the county of Hawaii. These funds allow them to place brochures at all the county & state beaches including resorts on Hawaii Island.
